Prestige

Created by Jack Dunbar

At the dawn of civilization, great tribes that once rivaled each other decided to abandon their conflicts, and form an alliance. At the heart of this alliance stood the foundations of what can be a great city; the fate of which is now in your hands.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Fulfillment Update 1
about 1 month ago – Wed, Oct 23, 2024 at 10:01:59 AM

Hey Everyone,

This is Jack, the publisher of Prestige.

I want to explain my absence for the last two months. My goal in campaigns is to update EOM (end of month) rain or shine. Not making excuses here, I'm sorry you're waiting on updates from me, but I do want to explain what has been happening and will happen next:

- We funded at the end of July
- Fritz and I went to GenCon and I sent copies of our games with Scott Kabel to a massive convention in Wyoming. The volume of those sales took some time to fulfill (I'm mostly self fulfilling, so it is time consuming)
- My project New Kingdom: Sowers was supposed to fulfill by end of September but a portion of packages about 10% were lost in shipping, so I have been working through customer service tickets to self-fulfill those lost packages.
- Additionally, I've been covering for my lead pastor since July 22nd while he's been out on a 16 week sabbatical which is almost over, so I've been distracted by some other duties that took way more of my time that I originally anticipated.
- For Prestige we are still finalizing art. We decided to redesign the cards which took some time. The new graphic design is much cleaner.
- I anticipate printing and beginning fulfillment before the end of the year, but I'm 50/50 on whether we will see Prestige delivered before or after the holidays. My bet is January, but I will push for earlier.

I will send an update with new art at the end of this month with another update.

Thanks for sticking with us!

Event card polls now live!
2 months ago – Wed, Sep 11, 2024 at 10:58:37 AM

Happy September city-builders!

The polls for the new event cards are now live!

One of the stretch goals that we reached on the final day of our campaign included adding 1 additional card to each event deck in the game (3 in total). Now we need your help in narrowing down which cards will be included!

Anyone with a Backerkit account can vote, and polls end next Wednesday (9/18).

How to vote:
  1.  Log in to your Backerkit account.
  2.  Navigate to the Community tab of the Prestige campaign: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/jack-dunbar/prestige/community#top
  3.  Click on the event cards that you want to see in the final copy of the game for all 3 polls!

Many of these extra event cards have been written by our fabulous guest writers, who have done wonders to bring the world of Prestige to life (and in such few words too)!

The polls only include the title and author of the cards (where applicable), but if you want to know the full story associated with each one before voting, you can check them out here below:

Favor Gained

  1. An Unexpected Discovery
A hunting party discovers a metal ore deposit while tracking a wounded deer. Immediately, the City begins to mine the metals and smelting techniques are refined. Vast improvements in weaponry combined with a surplus of precious metals advances the City's power amongst neighboring tribes.
    By Jared Nagao

  2. Remembrance Day
The people recall their lost loved ones: some with laughter and song, others with whispers and tears. But all feel closer to the departed — and to each other.
    By Chris Doka

  3. Codes of Law
The earliest settlers developed a code of law that provided structure for agreed upon behavior by the citizens and visitors to the city.
    By PJ Oubre

Favor Lost

  1. Season of Lost Hope
While the mild summer aided in record crops and a surplus of food, it was also the perfect breeding ground for rodents. As the autumn temperatures drop, millions of vermin descend across the City.  There was a massive loss in provisions and a famine soon followed. Hope in the heart of the city was lost.
    By Jared Nagao

  2. Corrupt Guard
"Why should I break my back for nothing but stale bread and pittance while the nobles feast in their warm halls? Why shouldn’t I make a little extra coin for my service, and all I have to do is… look the other way."
    By Dan leak

  3. Abandoned Efforts
Though once excited by the prospect of advancing the great city they once held dear, your people have turned away in the last hour. A project partially completed is just as good to you as an empty plot of land.

Invader

  1. Poisoned Wells
Our army fought valiantly and victory was within reach. Unfortunately, we took the enemy's claim of witchcraft for granted. If our soldiers only knew that the enemy's 'potion' was used to poison all the wells in the City. The nightmarish visions that followed had plagued our city's sleep and our exhausted soldiers were easily overrun.
    By Jared Nagao

  2. Invaded by Outcasts
Broken men. Men that have lost everything and enact their rage upon the innocent. Pity them, but put them to the sword all the same.
    By Dan Leak

  3. Raided Villages
Villages on the outskirts of your land had once been a great source of trade and supplies for your bustling city. Without the protection of your city walls though, the folks that live in these modest settlements have been easily overrun by bandits. Their homes were burned and now they flee to the shelter and safety of your mighty city. Can your city hold such numbers though?

Also, be sure to keep an eye out for a big logistics and timeline update coming soon from our publisher! Jack, from kingdoms of the Earth, has been hard at work finalizing the files for our manufacturing partners and working through the remaining tasks that are needed to get this game into your hands. Be sure to check it out when that update drops!

Designer Update 1: Fully Funded! Stretch Goals Reached! Prestige at Gen Con! and Late Pledges!
4 months ago – Tue, Aug 06, 2024 at 11:51:40 AM

Hey backers!

Fritz, the designer, here.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for helping to bring Prestige to life! I know Jack already let everyone know, but if you missed it, we fully funded the campaign! Not only that, but we smashed through the last stretch goal in the final hours too!

Stretch Goals Met:
  • 3 new community voted event cards to be added to the game (voting to come soon).
  • 40 hidden goal cards to be added in the form of a mini-expansion, which will introduce additional replay value and strategy to the base game.

It wouldn't have been possible without all of your support!

As many of you know, this has been a passion project of mine for over 4 years now, and it feels incredible to be able to have it turned into a real product! I look forward to hearing what you all have to say about it!

Jack will follow up on timeline and how this all will work shortly,
but in the meantime, I wanted to quickly share about what we I have been up to since the campaign ended last week!

Gen Con 2024!

Jack and I went to Gen Con, one of the biggest board game conventions in the world, drawing in over 70,000 people! We were representing both New Kingdom Gaming and Kingdoms of the Earth. We brought along several prototype copies of Prestige too, and introduced the game to so many new people!

We spent most of our time:
  • Demoing Prestige at the Dragon Egg Games booth (special shout out to the team there for sharing their booth with us!)
  • Showing off Prestige through Learn to Play events
  • Playing some pickup games during off hours in the open play areas

Check out some photos of our festivities below
:

If you happened to be one of the folks who stopped by, said hello, played a few rounds, or even preordered with us at Gen Con, I just want you to know we really appreciated it and it was great to spend the best 4 days in gaming with you!

Some other highlights of the event included meeting folks for the first time who've been involved with Prestige, such as:

Next Steps:

Jack and I had a blast at Gen Con, but things keep moving! Gen Con was a good final run to catch any lagging spelling errors, misprints, and misplaced icons, so our very next task will be to do a final update to our files before we send Prestige off to the printer!

In the meantime, we will also have the community voting for new event cards as mentioned above. We are still figuring out the logistics on that to ensure we have a fair and equitable path forward, but expect to hear more on that soon!

In the meantime, we would love it if you keep sharing Prestige with your friends and family! Though the campaign may be over, folks that missed it can still back us through preorders/late pledges!

So if you know anyone else that you think would love a copy of Prestige too, please send them the following link for easy access: https://prestige.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders?ref=follower_preorder_reminder

And finally, as always, feel free to reach out to Jack or I if you have any questions!

Let's go build something great together!

In the Home Stretch!

Friends!

Prestige needs 20 more backers to fund and we have just over 20 hours to go! We can do it with a few shares here and there. If we fund all of the hidden goals will be released as well! Get the word out. Time is short!

Thank you so much for supporting Prestige!!
